According to The Athletic network, Chelsea's management is seeking to extend the contract duration, and wants to reward the player for his performance and establish him as one of the main pillars in the club's future project.
João Pedro joined Chelsea in the summer of 2025 from Brighton in a deal worth £60 million, and quickly established himself as one of the team's standout stars.
During the past season, the Brazilian striker participated in 50 matches, scoring 20 goals and providing 9 assists, confirming his status as one of the team's most important attacking elements.
João Pedro said in statements reported by the newspaper: "Expectations were high since I joined, so I always try to maintain a positive mindset to help my teammates, and I believe it was one of the best seasons of my career."

The report indicated that the contract improvement also aims to block the path for clubs interested in signing the player, foremost among them Barcelona, which has placed João Pedro among its options to bolster the attack in the future, especially in the search for a successor to Robert Lewandowski.
However, Chelsea held firm to its position and informed Barcelona that the player is not for sale, refusing to enter into any negotiations regarding his departure.
