Terry: Saliba will not return to Arsenal's starting lineup.

William Saliba received a shocking message regarding his future with Arsenal after Chelsea legend John Terry questioned the French defender's ability to regain his starting spot in the Gunners' lineup following his return from injury.

According to the British newspaper The Mirror, Terry believes that Arsenal's signing of Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa could change the dynamics of the competition for the center-back position, affirming that the English player is capable of maintaining his starting place even after Saliba becomes fully fit.

Terry said: "I would choose Ezri Konsa for Arsenal. It's a massive signing, and I believe that even after William Saliba returns to full fitness, he won't get back into Arsenal's starting lineup. Ezri Konsa is a top-class player."

Saliba has been absent for Arsenal at the start of the current season after undergoing back surgery, with Christian Mosquera playing in his place in the opening match, while Piero Hincapie sat on the bench.

This comes at a time when Arsenal have strengthened their defensive options by signing Konsa, who delivered impressive performances with Aston Villa, giving Mikel Arteta a new option at center-back.

Saliba was one of Arsenal's most important elements during last season, but Terry's remarks open a new chapter in the competition for his position, presenting the French defender with a tough challenge to prove his right to reclaim his spot immediately upon his return to the pitch.
