Foreign press reports revealed that Al Ahly Club has entered into serious negotiations to sign Monsef Bekkar, the Croatian Dinamo Zagreb player, during the current summer transfer window.
The Croatian newspaper Germanijak stated that Junior Bromado, the Danish Midtjylland striker, will most likely become Dinamo Zagreb’s new striker, but starting next January, when he will join the squad on a free transfer.
The report indicated that the arrival of the Brazilian Bromado at Dinamo Zagreb would push the Algerian striker Monsef Bekkar down to third choice for the team’s head coach, not due to any decline in his level or lack of appreciation from the club, but because his versatility across positions could work against him.
It added: “In the centre-forward position, Bekkar struggles to secure enough minutes because of his teammate Biljo’s scoring efficiency, so he often plays on the wing, a position that is not the most suitable for him. The arrival of Dani Rodriguez has already intensified competition in that area, and the imminent signing of Bromado will increase it further.”
The Croatian newspaper clarified that Dinamo Zagreb officials are not inclined to sell Bekkar during the current summer transfer window, as they wish to keep him. Coach Mario Kovacevic currently includes him in the starting lineup, and he is expected to receive regular playing time at the start of the season.
Nevertheless, the report revealed that Bekkar has received tempting financial offers from abroad, and his future at Dinamo does not appear ideal amid the growing competition. Information therefore suggests he may leave the club during the summer.
It continued: “The most tempting offer appears to be coming from Egypt, where Al Ahly is seeking to sign him, offering a salary several times higher than what he earns at Dinamo Zagreb, while the Croatian club would receive a fee ranging between 3 and 4 million euros from the deal.”
According to the report, Al Ahly had already expressed interest in signing Bekkar during the previous winter transfer window, but the deal was not strongly pursued at the time. Now, however, it has become more serious.
The newspaper concluded: “Despite Dinamo Zagreb’s insistence on retaining the player and its reluctance to sell him, especially before the end of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, developments surrounding Bekkar indicate that his time with the club may end with his departure during the current summer transfer window.”
