The Spanish newspaper AS revealed that Aurélien Tchouaméni, the midfielder of the French national team, will miss the match against Paraguay in the round of 16 of the World Cup.
According to what the newspaper reported from the French network RMC, Tchouaméni suffered a setback in his muscular injury, putting him out of the calculations of technical director Didier Deschamps, while it is expected that Manu Koné will replace him in the starting lineup against Paraguay.
It added that initial examinations indicate that the Real Madrid midfielder will be absent for a week, after the thigh muscle injury recurred, which represents a strong blow to the French national team in the knockout stage of the tournament.
AS pointed out that this is not the first time Tchouaméni has been absent during the World Cup, as he had previously missed the match against Iraq, and Manu Koné also came on as a substitute for him.
The newspaper concluded that Tchouaméni will be the only absentee from the French national team squad in the match against Paraguay, after he delivered outstanding performances in the tournament and was one of the standout elements of "Les Bleus" outside the team's top three, before muscular injuries imposed themselves on him.
