Tarek El-Ashry, former coach of Haras El-Hodoud and Al-Ittihad Alexandria, shared his opinion on the performance level of Al-Ahly's first football team's defensive line.
El-Ashry stated via Al-Nahar Channel: "One of the factors that affected Al-Ahly's journey in local and African tournaments is the defensive line, which has conceded a large number of goals. Throughout Al-Ahly's history, its defense has been strong, and it needed review."

He continued: "Big teams do not easily concede a very high number of goals. I have no issue with Hany or Yasser Ibrahim. Hadi Ryadh is a good player, and there are also Yassin Marei and Amr El-Gazzar, who is a promising talent. Even regarding the left-back position after Ali Maaloul's departure, there must be one or two competent players. Ali Maaloul should not have been allowed to leave until a suitable replacement was secured."
He concluded: "There is a problem in the left-back position. If Karim El-Deeb gets the opportunity, he is the closest fit for this role. He is the most suitable in terms of style and capabilities aligned with Al-Ahly."
