Murad Yakin expresses his anger
Murad Yakin, coach of the Swiss national team, expressed his anger after facing Argentina over the referee's decision regarding his player Breel Embolo, who received the second yellow card along with the red card due to simulation during a joint confrontation with one of the Albiceleste players.
The Swiss national team coach said in statements he made via the "SRF" channel after the match: "It is unfortunate to exit in this way, and I do not know who set this rule; we were punished because of the referee's mistake, and this is unacceptable."
Murad Yakin continued his angry statements: "This is a rule that should not exist in the World Cup quarter-finals; it is unreasonable to me that your mistake is corrected in this way and then we are weakened."
The Swiss coach added: "We returned to the match and gained momentum after the equalizer, and we wanted to bring on new attacking players to continue creating chances in regular time."
He continued: "We defended everything, but with a shot like this, we have no choice, and it is unfortunate that we could not hold on until the penalty shootout, but this is football."
Yakin concluded: "All the players are my heroes for what they achieved here; we reached the quarter-finals and outperformed the world champions here, but more could have been achieved, and this is painful."
