Josep Maria Orobitg, Pep Guardiola's agent and former technical director of Manchester City, revealed a surprise regarding taking over the leadership of Saudi Al-Ahli in the next season.
The coach's agent confirmed, in statements to the Saudi newspaper "Okaz", that the Al-Ahli club administration entered into negotiations to contract with his client to succeed coach Matthias Jaissle.
Jaissle left Al-Ahli Saudi after deciding to move to lead Newcastle, so the administration of the western club entered into negotiations with more than one coach, before the Dutchman Marino Pušić was officially appointed.
Guardiola's agent said: "Al-Ahli's administration negotiated with us, but Guardiola rejected the offer because he does not want to return to coaching this year."
Guardiola had left Manchester City after the end of the past season, after 10 years spent inside the "Etihad" stadium, so the Spanish coaching legend decided to take a rest in the new season.
Guardiola was able to achieve many titles with the "Citizens", most notably winning the English Premier League title six times, in addition to the Champions League once in 2023.
