Sudden government intervention in the Ronaldo and Jesus crisis

Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro intervened in the crisis between Cristiano Ronaldo and Jorge Jesus, the head coach of the Portuguese national team, which ended with the team captain leaving the squad's camp before the match against Denmark.

According to the Portuguese channel "SIC Notícias," Montenegro contacted Jorge Jesus by phone and also spoke with Cristiano Ronaldo, in an attempt to contain the repercussions of the crisis that escalated over the past few hours.

Portuguese reports indicated that the Prime Minister initially contacted Pedro Proença, president of the Portuguese Football Federation, and requested to speak with Jesus, before also making a call to Ronaldo.

Ronaldo had announced his departure from the Portugal national team camp following Jesus's press conference before the Denmark match, along with his conversation with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation.

In his statement, Ronaldo said he made the decision to leave after the coach's press conference and his talk with the federation president, confirming that he would reveal the reasons behind this decision at the appropriate time.

These developments come after a crisis that began following the Norway match, when Ronaldo remained on the bench despite participating in warm-ups, amid reports of a prior agreement regarding the matches he would play during the international break.
