Valverde said in statements published by Marca newspaper, after the friendly win over Ferencvaros: "We continue to work on developing what the coach wants, and the ideas he adopts, there are still many absent players, but we are regaining our rhythm, we won, and that is the most important."

He added: "I am very happy to have Mourinho with us, and I try to learn from him, and benefit as much as possible from every day I train with him and his coaching staff, the players are happy, and working hard, and I, as team captain, am happy that all my teammates are performing well."

He continued: "Mourinho is a very friendly person, with a strong personality, which may be strict at times, but I believe this is the best way to communicate with you, I like his style in dealing with us, and how he treats me, we feel comfortable with him."

He added: "I enjoy every day, and strive to bring out the best in me, and the best version of myself, and I also know how to bring out the best in all my teammates, so that the technical staff is happy and proud of our work, we will always do our best for him."

Regarding Bernardo Silva's first appearance, with whom he shares the midfield, he commented: "Really wonderful, I enjoy him a lot, he is a charming player every day, and an excellent person, and he has adapted wonderfully with the entire team."

He concluded: "He is very fun and entertaining, he is a great player I have always admired as a player and as a rival, and having him with us today is a great pleasure."
