Hisham Yakan with the Eritrea national team

Hisham Yakan, former Zamalek and Egypt national team player, achieved a historic feat with the Eritrea national team after leading them back to international competitions following a 19-year absence, thanks to qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Eritrea qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after defeating Eswatini 4-1 on aggregate in the preliminary round.

Eritrea began their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers campaign with a 1-1 draw against Kenya, earning their first point in Group Four.

Mosimane's final rehearsal before facing Egypt

Egypt and South Africa will meet in a friendly match at the end of the international break, at 9:00 PM on Sunday, October 4, at Cairo International Stadium.

Hossam Hassan and Pitso Mosimane have previously met in three matches, when the former was the head coach of Ittihad Alexandria, while the latter was at the helm of Al Ahly SC.

Mosimane outperformed Hossam Hassan in the previous three encounters, winning all matches.

The first encounter came in the semi-finals of the Egypt Cup, ending with Al Ahly's 2-1 victory over Ittihad Alexandria. In the Egyptian League during the 2020-2021 season, Al Ahly won the first-leg match 4-0, before securing another victory in the second-leg match with a score of 2-1.
