Mohamed Marouf, the referee of the Al Ahly vs. Zed match, denied the circulating reports about his conversation with Wael Gomaa, the football manager of the Red Devils.
Rumors have been circulating in recent hours that Mohamed Marouf asked Wael Gomaa to substitute Al Ahly player Ali Mahmoud to prevent him from being sent off against Zed after receiving a yellow card.
A source told Yalla Kora in an exclusive statement: "There were discussions between Essam El-Fattah, head of the Referees Committee, and Mohamed Marouf regarding the match events, and the latter denied the circulating reports."
The source clarified: "A response will be sent to Zed club via an official letter within hours, following the conclusion of today's meeting."
A source within the Football Association confirmed that the VAR room communications will be reviewed to confirm the inaccuracy of the circulating reports.
The Referees Committee believes that Mohamed Marouf did not make any errors in the Al Ahly vs. Zed match.
Al Ahly won 2-0 against Zed last Friday, in the closing match of the second round of the Egyptian Premier League.
