Al-Ahly Club is planning to renew the contract of Moroccan player Ashraf Bencharki before he enters the free-agent period of his deal.
Bencharki's contract with Al-Ahly expires at the end of the current season, and he will be eligible to sign with any club starting next January.
A source told Yalla Kora: "Al-Ahly intends to open negotiations with Bencharki to renew his contract, but only after finalizing the renewals of Mohamed Hany and Yasser Ibrahim."
The source added: "Ashraf Bencharki is earning $1.4 million this season with Al-Ahly."
The source clarified: "Al-Ahly has set a salary cap for foreign players at $900,000, as was done with the new duo Sofiane Benguit and Mounsef Bekrar; the former earns $800,000, while the latter earns $50,000 more."
The source concluded: "If Bencharki wishes to renew his contract and stay with Al-Ahly, he must waive 40% of his current contract value."
Bencharki started brilliantly with Al-Ahly, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
Bencharki had joined Al-Ahly during the January 2025 transfer window on a free transfer after leaving Qatari club Al-Rayyan.
The 31-year-old has participated in 55 matches for Al-Ahly, scoring 10 goals and providing 14 assists.
Al-Ahly had previously succeeded in renewing the contracts of Imam Ashour, Marwan Attia, Tahir Mohamed Tahir, Mostafa Shobeir, and Omar Sayed Moawad.
