Unai Simon, the goalkeeper of the Spanish national team, expressed his great happiness at his country's victory in the World Cup championship, explaining that along with the rest of his teammates, they will realize the magnificence of what they achieved in the World Cup as soon as they return to their homeland.
The Spanish national team crowned the World Cup title for the second time in its history, after defeating Argentina 1-0 today, in the match played between the two teams in the World Cup final.
Simon delivered an outstanding World Cup and won the award for best goalkeeper in the tournament.
Simon said in statements reported by the newspaper "Mundo Deportivo": "We are still absorbing the matter, I did not feel any emotion when the referee blew the final whistle, it was as if we were saying: We did it, when we return to Spain, we will realize how amazing our achievement today was".
Simon praised Spain's coach, Luis de la Fuente, adding: "In such a long training camp, 50 days, it is important to maintain morale and balance between the players who participate more and those who participate less, and in this regard, the coach was exceptional, he handled the feelings of all the players well".

He explained: "Tactically, there are four basic principles that must be followed to understand the matches, but over the course of 51 days, you have to be like a team manager, and in this regard, the technical director was our leader and role model".
He added: "We have always maintained our identity and style, in good times and bad, and this is essential to reach the final and win the title, we are still absorbing the matter".
He continued: "Time will show the true value of what we have achieved, Argentina would play in a very direct style represented by connecting with Messi and passing to him, we were afraid of making mistakes in the first half, in final matches, there is usually not much room to make a free decision, but starting from the 70th minute, we controlled the match".
Simon directed a message to the Spanish fans, as he continued: "We have waited 16 years, I tell people to enjoy this achievement and appreciate it, we knew you supported us, and we felt that, and we thank you".
He went on: "If my gloves that I wore in the World Cup could speak, they would say that they did not exert much effort compared to the gloves of the other goalkeepers, keeping a clean sheet in seven matches is an achievement that is hard to surpass, and I do not claim credit for it myself, but for my teammates in the team, I am grateful to them for their outstanding defensive performance".
He concluded: "Nothing compares to the World Cup, and it cannot be compared to winning the European Championship, we must enjoy this achievement and realize the value of what we have achieved".
