Saudi press reports have addressed new developments regarding the contract renewal file for Al-Nassr goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi, whose contract is scheduled to expire in the summer of 2027.
According to the Saudi newspaper "Okaz", Al-Nassr club officials held a meeting with Nawaf Al-Aqidi to discuss renewing his contract, but the Saudi international goalkeeper stipulated receiving 20 million riyals annually on a four-year contract, bringing the total value of the deal to 80 million riyals.
The newspaper added, according to its sources, that the financial demands set by Al-Aqidi were not accepted by the Al-Nassr administration, so the meeting ended without reaching an agreement between the two parties on the renewal.
The newspaper continued that the Al-Nassr administration reopened the file with Al-Aqidi in recent days in an attempt to reach an agreement on the renewal, but the player expressed his desire to leave and pursue a new experience, especially as he wants to join a team where he features as a starter.
The Al-Nassr club administration is studying the available options regarding the player, whether by trying to convince him to stay and reconsider his decision, or by deciding to sell him before he enters the free-agent period and departs on a free transfer.
Nawaf Al-Aqidi had attracted interest from Saudi Roshn League clubs such as Al-Ahli, Al-Qadsiah, and Al-Shabab.
The 26-year-old is a product of Al-Nassr's youth academy, having been promoted to the first team in 2019 before being loaned out on multiple occasions, including moves to Al-Tai and Al-Fateh, where he helped the latter remain in the Saudi Roshn League during the 2024-2025 season.
