Saudi Al-Ittihad Club suffered a strong blow to its ranks during the team's camp, which is being held in the Spanish city of "Marbella", in preparation for the new 2026-2027 season.
The official account of Al-Ittihad Club, via the "X" platform, announced that Hamed Al-Ghamdi, the team's midfielder, suffered an injury with a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament.
Al-Ghamdi's injury occurred in the match against South African Orlando Pirates, which ended in favor of "Al-Ameed" with three goals to two.
Al-Ghamdi's injury is considered a shock to the Al-Ittihad team before the start of the new season, as they are expected to face Emirati Al-Jazira on August 11 next.
This match is held within the qualifying playoff for the AFC Champions League Elite competition in the 2026-2027 edition, as "Al-Ameed" qualified after finishing fifth in the Saudi League.
Al-Ghamdi had transferred to Al-Ittihad's ranks permanently in the summer of 2025, after a season and a half spent on loan from Al-Ettifaq, with his contract extending until the summer of 2030.
Al-Ghamdi played 11 matches in Al-Ittihad's jersey last season, but he did not score or assist any goal, according to the player's stats on the "Transfermarkt" website.
