Mustafa Shobeir, the goalkeeper of Al-Ahly's first football team, spoke about renewing his contract with the club.
Earlier, Al-Ahly Club announced the renewal of Shobeir's contract until June 2029.
Shobeir stated in remarks via his club's official website: "It feels incredibly good to continue your journey at your home. Since my time in the youth sector, my goal has always been to reach the first team."
He added: "When you are in the first team, playing as a starter, and the club renews your contract, making you an important figure, that is something that makes me proud."
He continued: "When you come from the youth academy, the fans look at you differently and always expect something special."
He emphasized: "Leaving Al-Ahly is difficult; ultimately, this is my home. What Al-Ahly wants is what will happen. I confirm that our full focus is on returning to the podiums, as we went through a tough season, and there are currently no offers."
He further stated: "The renewal negotiations were comfortable because I was always going to renew; that was a foregone conclusion. No one can impose a condition on Al-Ahly that hasn't been applied before. In the end, we agreed and renewed based on what was settled, without any penalty clauses."
He clarified: "Some may think the negotiations took a long time, and perhaps their perspective is valid. However, the negotiations did not drag on at all. The first negotiation session took place one day before the Spain training camp. Then we focused on the camp, and upon returning, we had a league match. Some sessions occurred between matches, but this does not mean the negotiations were difficult, because I would have renewed under any circumstances."
He pointed out: "Hussein El-Shahat renewed his contract after it expired; he could have left for free, but negotiations with him took time. The same happened with Mohamed Hany two seasons ago."
He added: "Al-Ahly's fans have done so much for me. I hope to maintain my place in their hearts as it is. As long as I perform as required for the club, the fans will love me even more."
He concluded: "The policy of preserving the team's squad is very successful. Appreciating players and retaining them by extending contracts is a positive step. We are accustomed to the club valuing its players."
