Mohamed Ahmed Salama, president of Al-Ittihad Alexandria Club, emphasized the importance of his team's victory over Abu Qir Fertilizers.
Al-Ittihad Alexandria secured its first win in this season's league competition against Abu Qir Fertilizers with a clean 2-0 scoreline, in the third round of the league held at Alexandria Stadium.
Mohamed Ahmed Salama told FilGoal.com: "We earned three important points against Abu Qir Fertilizers, and we desperately needed this victory to build confidence."
He added, "The team has not yet reached the required level, but it is still early in its journey, and with successive matches, it will show a different performance."
He stressed, "Achieving good results will make fans rally around the team in large numbers, as they are the most important and powerful element in the game."
He concluded, "This victory is the team's first step toward the success of its new experiment, after we formed an entirely new squad comprising players hungry for football, and we hope this success continues."
Al-Ittihad Alexandria's two goals were scored by Hosam Hassan in the 68th minute, while Isaac Savior netted the second goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
Hosam Hassan received the Man of the Match award, raising his total league career goals to 75.
Al-Ittihad drew goalless in the first round against Zamalek, before losing 3-1 to Ceramica Cleopatra in the second round.
Al-Ittihad Alexandria raised its tally to 4 points, placing it ninth, tied with Modern Sport and ZED.
Meanwhile, Abu Qir Fertilizers remained at 3 points, occupying 13th place.
