Many prominent football players remain without a club during the current summer transfer window, as the new 2026/2027 season approaches, foremost among them the Egyptian international Mohamed Salah.
Mohamed Salah, 34, is considered the most prominent name among the free agents available in the transfer market, as the former Liverpool winger has not yet revealed his future destination, and while he has been linked with a move to Turkish side Beşiktaş, his agent has downplayed these rumors.
Serbian Dušan Vlahović is regarded as the best attacking option among the free agents, as the former Juventus striker is a prolific goalscorer (68 goals in 168 matches with the Old Lady) and is only 26 years old, yet he has not yet determined his new club, and he is attracting interest from Turkish sides Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş.
Jadon Sancho and John Stones are also considered key players who remain without a club, and both have gone through two difficult seasons, with one loaned to Aston Villa (one goal in 29 matches) and the other to Manchester City where a series of injuries hampered his career.
Sancho and Stones are 26 and 32 years old respectively, and they are still highly regarded and could prove their worth with one of Europe's top clubs, while David Alaba (34 years old) is another veteran seeking a new challenge after five seasons spent at Real Madrid.
Fabinho may no longer be the shining star he once was, but he remains a great find, as the Brazilian returned to the Seleção squad at the World Cup and played 111 matches over three seasons with Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia; he is 32 years old.
In addition, Leon Goretzka (31 years old) would also be capable of bolstering the midfield of any major European team, and the German's contract with Bayern Munich ends this summer after eight years, making him a target for Juventus.
Likewise, Krépin Diatta (27 years old) is leaving Monaco after five seasons in which his form alternated between starter and substitute; he is distinguished by his ability to play in various winger positions, and alongside him emerges Bamba Dieng (26 years old), a Senegalese striker who previously played for Marseille, Lorient and Angers, and who is attracting interest from Turkish club Amed.
Yves Bissouma's (29 years old) contract with Tottenham Hotspur ends after a mixed period during which he contributed to winning the 2025 Europa League before enduring a difficult final season, and he has become a free agent.
Finally, Portuguese full-back Raphaël Guerreiro (32 years old) bid farewell to German club Bayern Munich after three years in which he played 89 matches, and he is currently awaiting the determination of his next destination.
