Spanish newspaper Marca revealed that Manchester City has begun moves to sign young Moroccan international Ayoub Bouaddi, as a potential alternative to Spaniard Rodri in the event of his departure during the current summer transfer window.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between Manchester City and the player are progressing rapidly, with optimism inside the English club about concluding the deal in the coming days.
The newspaper clarified that completing the deal is linked to Rodri’s future, as Real Madrid seeks to sign him this summer; Bouaddi could join City immediately upon the Spanish midfielder’s departure, or his transfer could be postponed until 2027 if Rodri remains at the Etihad.
It added that an agreement with the 18-year-old Moroccan player is already in place, with only the final deal between Manchester City and French club Lille remaining to be finalized.
Bouaddi is considered one of the brightest emerging talents in Moroccan football, having shone with Lille and delivered standout performances at the World Cup; reports indicate the deal could reach €100 million, given the player’s significant potential.
