Algerian international Riyad Mahrez, the former Al-Ahli Jeddah player, arrived in Qatar on Monday evening ahead of joining Al-Shamal club.

Riyad Mahrez left Al-Ahli Jeddah at the end of last season after spending three seasons with the club.

The Algerian website dzfoot claimed that Riyad Mahrez has reached a final agreement with Qatari side Al-Shamal to join the team on a free transfer.

It is expected that Riyad Mahrez will undergo a medical examination following his arrival in Qatar, before the official announcement of the deal.

Riyad Mahrez's contract with Al-Shamal will be short-term, with an option for the player to exit in January next year, in addition to a clause allowing for a one-year extension.

Riyad Mahrez spent three years wearing the Saudi Al-Ahli jersey, leaving a significant mark during his time there and contributing to leading the team to win the AFC Champions League Elite title twice consecutively.

Furthermore, the experienced 35-year-old Algerian winger scored 37 goals and provided 38 assists in 122 matches played for Saudi Al-Ahli across all competitions.

The five-time Premier League winner previously joined Al-Ahli from English club Manchester City in a deal valued at £30 million.
