Eyes inside Real Madrid are turning toward the anticipated meeting between Vinicius Junior and the club's management, which could mark a turning point in one of the most complex contract renewal files in recent years, after negotiations stalled since the summer of 2025 despite the two sides nearing a final agreement.
Vinicius Junior has returned to join Real Madrid's training sessions today, Monday, in preparation for the start of the new 2026-2027 season.
Revealing Vinicius's demands for renewing his contract with Real Madrid
The last direct session between the player's representatives and Real Madrid's management dates back to after the 2025 Club World Cup, when the Brazilian star significantly lowered his financial demands, while the club improved its offer, bringing the agreement very close. However, negotiations suddenly halted at the last moment, even though the signing seemed imminent.
According to the Spanish newspaper "AS," during those negotiations Vinicius withdrew his initial demands, which reached around 30 million euros net per season, before settling his request at 20 million euros net annually, an increase of only about 5 million euros compared to the average salary in his current contract.
The Brazilian player had signed his last contract in 2022 until the summer of 2027, with a total value of 75 million euros net over five years, averaging 15 million euros per season, with gradual salary increases, in addition to performance-related bonuses, including a clause granting him an extra 2 million euros after winning the "The Best" award from FIFA.
New files on the table
Salary is no longer the only focus of negotiations, as the two sides are currently discussing several new clauses, most notably the player receiving a renewal bonus, similar to the signing bonus Kylian Mbappé received upon joining Real Madrid, alongside a review of commercial image rights.
This file holds great importance for Vinicius, who has become one of the most prominent marketing faces in world football, thanks to his contracts with a large number of international brands, making image rights a fundamental part of his annual income.
Vinicius is under contract with Real Madrid until the summer of 2027, meaning that, according to FIFA regulations, he will be able to officially negotiate with any club starting next January if he does not renew his contract.
The Spanish newspaper noted that the latest information from the player's camp confirms that his primary desire is to stay with Real Madrid after renewing his contract, as previous reports indicated that Vinicius prefers to remain even if no new agreement is reached, and to leave for free at the end of his contract.
The picture is expected to become clearer after the anticipated meeting in the coming hours, which will bring Vinicius together with José Mourinho and Real Madrid's management to decide the player's future.
