The South African Football Association announced on Tuesday the appointment of Pitso Mosimane as head coach of the Bafana Bafana.
Pitso Mosimane returned to coach the South African national team, succeeding Belgian Hugo Broos.
A few weeks ago, South African Football Association president Danny Jordaan revealed that Mosimane was close to returning to coach the South African national team, but the matter was not officially finalized until Tuesday.
On August 8 of last year, Jordaan stated via the association's official website: "The national executive committee has agreed to appoint Pitso Mosimane as coach of the South African national team."
He added, "However, there are still some details we need to finalize. We will officially announce the coach next week."
Belgian coach Hugo Broos, who led the team to participate in two consecutive editions of the Africa Cup of Nations and qualified for the second round of the 2026 World Cup after a 16-year absence, resigned from the Bafana Bafana.
Pitso Mosimane previously coached the South African national team between 2010 and 2012.
Pitso Mosimane has extensive coaching experience and has previously won the African Champions League three times (twice with Al Ahly) and (once with Mamelodi Sundowns).
