Press reports have confirmed that Pau Cubarsí will not be included in the Spain national team squad for the upcoming match against the Czech Republic in the 2026/2027 UEFA Nations League.
Spain will face the Czech Republic this Saturday evening in Oviedo, as part of Matchday 3 of the Group Stage of League A in the UEFA Nations League.
Two Spanish players excluded from the clash with the Czechs
According to "Mundo Deportivo," Barcelona center-back Cubarsí is one of the players head coach Luis de la Fuente has decided to exclude this time, in order to give him rest.
The report noted that Cubarsí's absence is not due to any physical issue with the player; rather, the coach chose to rest the Barcelona defender after he played the full 180 minutes in the last two matches, against England at Wembley and against Croatia in Seville.
"Mundo Deportivo" confirmed that Luis de la Fuente's aim is for Cubarsí to be in peak physical condition for the next match against Croatia.
The Catalan center-back is expected to be 100% ready for the match against Croatia, which will take place next Tuesday in Split, during Matchday 4 of the UEFA Nations League.
Furthermore, the coach decided to exclude Carlos Espí, as the Real Madrid striker arrived in Oviedo around midnight yesterday Friday and will also miss the match against the Czech Republic.
The promising striker may get his opportunity in the following match against Croatia, while Fran García and Roberto Fernández will join the "La Roja" squad, as the left-back joined the group to replace the injured Alejandro Grimaldo.
Meanwhile, the Espanyol player, who was excluded from the first two matches, will have the chance to make his debut with the senior Spain national team.
