Reports: Ronaldo decides to retire from international football

Foreign press reports revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portugal national team star, has decided to retire from international football and will no longer represent the team.

Ronaldo entered into a severe crisis with Jorge Jesus, the manager of the Portugal national team, which led him to leave the team's camp in Copenhagen before the match against Denmark.

The Portugal national team faces its counterpart, Denmark, at 9:45 PM tomorrow, Thursday, at Parken Stadium, as part of the third round of the UEFA Nations League group stage.

Portuguese newspaper O Jogo reported that Cristiano Ronaldo made a final, irreversible decision not to play for the Portugal national team again; the match against Wales was his last appearance wearing the team's jersey.

It added: "Ronaldo has settled his matter.. It is an irreversible decision not to return to the national team squad; consequently, the match against Wales at the historic Alvalade stadium will be considered his final appearance representing Portugal."

Ronaldo had written on his Instagram account after leaving the Portugal camp: "After the national team coach's press conference, and following a conversation with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, I decided to leave the camp."

He added: "I will reveal to the Portuguese people, in due time, the truth behind the reasons for my departure from the national team, which I have always devoted myself to serving.. The time has now come for me to wish Portugal and all my teammates success, without exception."

The crisis between Ronaldo and Jesus began after the player objected to not being included in the previous match against Norway, before things escalated with strong statements from the Portuguese coach in the press conference ahead of the Norway match.

Jesus confirmed that he had made a prior decision not to field Ronaldo in the matches against Norway and Denmark, indicating that no player in the world can change his technical convictions.
