Marcel Koller, the coach of Swiss side Zurich, is preparing to lead his team against Basel this evening in a highly anticipated classic match in the Swiss football league.

Zurich is currently in eighth place in the Swiss league table with 3 points from one win and two losses, while Basel is in fifth place with 6 points from two wins and one loss.

According to the Swiss website "bluewin," Koller preferred not to retire after leaving Al Ahly in April 2025, reaching an agreement to coach Zurich.

Koller, who turned 65 last November, confirmed that he still feels "young" and wants to take on another major football challenge instead of enjoying his gardening hobby, which means "plant cultivation" and contributes to relaxation and connecting with nature.

Koller aims to lead Zurich to a higher position in the Swiss league without relying on any new signings, after finishing last season in tenth place.

Koller has achieved several major accomplishments in his coaching career, including winning two Swiss league titles, successfully promoting to the German league, qualifying for the European Championship with Austria, and winning several domestic titles and the African Champions League twice with Al Ahly club.
