Press reports indicated today, Sunday, that the Italian club Juventus has backed out of signing Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
Juventus had placed Martinez at the top of its list of targets to bolster the goalkeeper position during the current summer transfer window.
According to Sky, Juventus decided to withdraw from the Emiliano Martinez deal due to the large gap between the offer and the asking price.
The report stated that the decision was made internally at the Italian club several days ago, as Juventus believes the costs are extremely high.
Some press reports had revealed that Aston Villa requested 12 million euros in exchange for selling Martinez.
Due to these developments, Juventus has begun reassessing its other options, with the name of Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario returning to the forefront as one of the potential alternatives.
The names of Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki and Napoli goalkeeper Vanja Milinković-Savić have also been linked to Juventus's list of potential alternatives in the event the club fails to reach an agreement with Aston Villa regarding Martinez.
