The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" revealed that Al Ahly Club will be Barcelona's opponent in the friendly Joan Gamper Cup tournament, after the two parties reached an agreement regarding holding the match.
The newspaper explained that the match will be held on August 19 next on the "Camp Nou" stadium, as part of Barcelona's preparations for the new season.
It indicated that the confrontation has a special character, as it brings Barcelona together with a strong team that enjoys great popularity in Egypt, and it comes within the framework of the Catalan club's interest in expanding in the Arab market, especially since Egypt has about 110 million people.
"Mundo Deportivo" added that Barcelona has a large fan base in the Arab region, and seeks to strengthen its presence there through such confrontations.
The newspaper touched on the presence of Hamza Abdel Karim, the Egyptian striker whom Barcelona contracted during the past winter transfer period to join the youth team, which increases the privacy of the confrontation between the two clubs.
