External media reports have revealed that former Zamalek SC goalkeeper Mohamed Abou Gabr is close to joining the Moroccan Botola Pro league through a move to MAS Fez.
The Moroccan newspaper Sport 7 reported that MAS Fez has finalized the signing of goalkeeper Mohamed Abou Gabr on a free transfer, making him the club's first signing of the ongoing summer transfer window, under the supervision of new president Mohamed Al-Jadouni.
The report indicated that the MAS Fez management decided to strengthen the team's goalkeeper position with the experienced Egyptian Abou Gabr, given the lack of local names with good technical standards at a reasonable cost.
The report clarified that the MAS Fez management will conclude 10 new deals in the current summer, including the signing of the Egyptian goalkeeper Abou Gabr, as the club is negotiating with several free agents, including Hamid Ait Ahaddou, Yassine Lamine, Youssef El Arabidi, Bnktib Ismail, and Faisal Fajr.
Mohamed Abou Gabr's name had been linked to several Moroccan clubs in the current summer, following his departure from Modern Sport, including Hassania Agadir.
It is expected that the MAS Fez management will resolve the sanctions imposed on it by the International Football Federation (FIFA), as the club is among those banned from making transfers for three registration periods, prior to announcing the signing of any new player.
It is worth noting that Mohamed Abou Gabr, 37 years old, has previously represented several Egyptian clubs, including Zamalek, Enppi, Smouha, Al Ahly Bank, and most recently Modern Sport.
