Al-Ahli Jeddah Saudi is searching for an alternative coach to the German Matthias Jaissle.
Al-Riyadiya newspaper revealed that Jaissle submitted his resignation from his position as coach of Al-Ahli Jeddah.
British journalist Ben Jacobs mentioned the nomination of the Dutchman Arne Slot, former Liverpool coach, to take over the coaching of Al-Ahli Jeddah as a successor to Jaissle.
Ben Jacobs added, "Slot is one of the candidates to join Al-Ahli Club, given Matthias Jaissle's move to Newcastle, however, Slot prefers to move to a European club."
Eddie Howe informed Newcastle's management of his departure from coaching the team due to his desire to take a break from football, according to The Athletic.
Newcastle held talks with Matthias Jaissle, coach of Al-Ahli Jeddah Saudi, and they reached advanced stages.
Slot, 47 years old, took charge of coaching Dutch Alkmaar, before moving to coach Dutch Feyenoord during the period from 2021 until 2024.
He took over coaching Liverpool in the last two seasons.
Arne Slot won the Dutch league and cup titles with Feyenoord, and the English league with Liverpool.
Eddie Howe will leave after 5 years spent coaching Newcastle.
Jaissle, 38 years old, won the AFC Champions League twice with Al-Ahli Jeddah.
The Saudi Public Investment Fund owns both Al-Ahli Jeddah Saudi and Newcastle teams.
Jaissle joined Al-Ahli Jeddah in 2023 to lead them to the AFC Champions League twice consecutively in 2025 and 2026.
Meanwhile, Eddie Howe took over coaching Newcastle in November 2021 succeeding Steve Bruce, after the Saudi Investment Fund acquisition.
