Atalanta United, the American club, has entered into negotiations to sign Romelu Lukaku, Napoli's striker, during the current summer transfer window.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, Lukaku is no longer part of coach Massimiliano Allegri's technical project at Napoli, which opens the door for his departure this summer.
The report indicated that the American club is pushing hard to sign the Belgian striker, amid ongoing negotiations between all parties.
He added that Lukaku has expressed his approval to leave Napoli, but the negotiations are still in their early stages.
The report clarified that the player has entered the final year of his contract with Napoli, after joining the team in the summer of 2024 from Chelsea on a three-season deal.
Lukaku participated in Napoli's Italian league title win in the 2024-2025 season, before his role significantly declined the following season due to injuries, where he played only 5 league matches.
The 33-year-old player is no longer a key element in the team's lineup, especially with Rasmus Højlund among the attacking options.
Reports revealed that Napoli may agree to sell Lukaku for around 10 million euros, while his annual salary, which reaches 8 million euros, remains the biggest obstacle for clubs interested in signing him.
Napoli is preparing to reorganize its squad under Allegri's leadership, while Atalanta United seeks to finalize the deal during the current transfer window.
