Arsenal continues its serious steps towards signing Brazilian Bruno Guimarães, captain of Newcastle United, during the summer transfer window, with negotiations accelerating between the two parties to conclude the deal.

talkSPORT revealed that Arsenal has made Guimarães a priority to bolster the midfield and hopes to reach an agreement with Newcastle before the end of this month.
The report added that verbal talks are still ongoing between the two clubs, despite Newcastle confirming it has not yet received an official offer, while Arsenal sources confirm the club has already made three verbal offers.
The report indicated that Arsenal is prepared to pay more than £70 million after reaching a preliminary agreement with the player on personal terms.
In contrast, Newcastle is determined to keep its captain, especially after the departures of Sandro Tonali to Tottenham and Anthony Gordon to Barcelona, and also plans to table a new contract renewal offer for Guimarães should he remain with the team.
