Real Madrid reveals new development regarding Asensio's injury

Via Yallakora

Real Madrid announced that defender Raúl Asencio has undergone successful surgery to treat a stress fracture in his right tibia. The player will begin the recovery and rehabilitation phase in the coming days, following his struggle with the injury during the recent period.

The club clarified in a brief statement today, Thursday, that the operation was performed under the supervision of Real Madrid's medical services, as part of efforts to treat the injury that kept the Spanish defender out of action at the start of the current season.

Asencio suffered an injury to the rectus femoris muscle in his right leg at the end of last July, before returning to Real Madrid's squad in September. However, he has not played any minutes in the current season so far.

With his leg problem persisting, the medical staff and the player opted for surgery to treat the stress fracture, as it became necessary to address the injury definitively before continuing the season.

Initial estimates suggest that Asencio could be sidelined for between two and four months, meaning his return to the pitch may extend into early 2027. However, his final return date will depend on the progress of his recovery and his response to the rehabilitation program.

It is worth noting that Asencio played 34 matches for Real Madrid during the previous season, before his appearances decreased towards the end of the campaign, leading him to start the current season without making any official appearances so far.
