Real Madrid revealed in an official statement: "After conducting examinations today on our player Raúl Asensio by the medical services of Real Madrid, he was diagnosed with a muscle tear in the rectus femoris muscle in his right leg. His health condition will be monitored."
Meanwhile, Spanish journalist Arancha Rodríguez, who specializes in covering news of the royal team, revealed that Asensio will be absent for a period of up to about 6 weeks.
Asensio, 23 years old, was promoted to Real Madrid's first team two seasons ago.
Asensio has only won one title with Real Madrid, which is the Intercontinental.
The Real Madrid defender played 34 matches in all competitions last season, scoring two goals and assisting one.
Real Madrid signed Ibrahima Konaté from Liverpool in a free transfer to bolster its defense, after the departure of David Alaba.
Meanwhile, Eder Militão and Antonio Rüdiger continue in the team's ranks, in addition to Dean Hausen, the team's defender who joined from Bournemouth last season.
