Pyramids FC began their Egyptian Premier League campaign with a 3-0 victory over Ghazl El Mahalla in the match held on Saturday evening.
Pyramids visited Ghazl El Mahalla at El Mahalla Stadium as part of the first round fixtures of the 2026-2027 Premier League season.
Pyramids, led by their new coach Rulani Mokwena, started the match with the following lineup: "Ahmed El Shenawy - Mohamed El Shebib - Ahmed Samy - Mahmoud Mara'i - Karim Hafez - Mohannad Lasheen - Walid Karti - Mahmoud Saber - Odeh Fakhouri - Yussuf Obama - Mahmoud Zalaka".
Ghazl El Mahalla's lineup was as follows: "Amer Amer, Ahmed El Ash, Ahmed Shousha, Fares Negash, Yahya Zakaria, Mori Toure, Moaz Abdelsalam, Abdelrahman Shika, Saidi Kebo, Abdo Yahya, Hazem El Askary".
Pyramids dominated the first half events but were delayed in scoring the opening goal.
Pyramids had to wait until the 41st minute to net the first goal.
The goal came after a long ball from Pyramids behind El Mahalla's defense; El Shebib passed it past Yahya Zakaria to reach Fakhouri, who shot the ball under goalkeeper Amer Amer's hands into Ghazl El Mahalla's net.
In stoppage time of the first half (45+1), Ghazl El Mahalla missed an equalizing opportunity when Abdo Yahya headed powerfully, but the ball went wide of Pyramids goalkeeper Ahmed El Shenawy's goal.
The first half ended with Pyramids leading Ghazl El Mahalla 1-0.
In the 68th minute, Pyramids scored their second goal through substitute Nasser Maher, following a pass and a powerful shot into the empty net after the Ghazl El Mahalla goalkeeper was out of position, making the score 2-0.
Pyramids extended their lead in the 76th minute by scoring their third goal; following a cross into the penalty area, Zalaka met it with a low shot that went past Amer Amer's right side into El Mahalla's net, giving the Sky Blues a 3-0 advantage.
The match concluded with Pyramids securing an away victory over Ghazl El Mahalla with three clean goals.
The "Sky Blues" claimed their first three points on their journey toward dreaming of winning the Premier League title.
