The Spanish newspaper "AS" highlighted the attack on Kylian Mbappe by the media in Paraguay, following France's victory over Paraguay and their qualification to the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
The newspaper mentioned that Mbappe did not just score the winning goal, but also got into several altercations with Paraguayan players during the match, before sparking controversy again after the final whistle when he celebrated in front of goalkeeper Orlando Gil without shaking his hand.
It pointed out that the Paraguayan newspaper "Última Hora" criticized the actions of the French team captain, describing them as "arrogant and haughty," confirming that he ignored the Paraguayan goalkeeper and celebrated the victory in front of him.
The newspaper added that the Paraguayan media labeled Mbappe as a "bad winner," referring to his way of celebrating and interactions after the end of the match.
On the other hand, not all newspapers in Paraguay focused on Mbappe's actions, as ABC Color and La Nación praised the strong performance of the Paraguayan team, confirming that the team competed with France until the last moments and played a great match against one of the top contenders for the title.
