Orlando Pirates denies Wado approaching to coach Zamalek

Via FilGoal

South African club Orlando Pirates announced the invalidity of reports indicating that their Moroccan coach Abdel Salam Ouaddou is close to coaching Zamalek.

Some reports indicated that Ouaddou is among the candidates to coach the Whites next season.

Zamalek is searching for a new coach to succeed Moataz Jamal after winning the Egyptian League title last season.

The name of Portuguese coach Alexandre Santos was linked to coaching Zamalek, but he preferred to lead Kuwaiti club Al-Kuwait, while Moroccan coach Jamal Sellami refused to coach the Whites according to a report by the Moroccan website le360.

The 47-year-old coach has managed Algerian club Mouloudia Ouled Jedida, Congolese club Vita Club, Marumo Gallants in South Africa, and finally Orlando Pirates.

Last season, Ouaddou led his team Pirates to end the local dominance of Sundowns, which had lasted for 9 seasons.

Orlando returned to win the league title for the first time since 2011-12, and also achieved the treble last season after winning the South African Cup and the League Cup.

Moroccan coach Abdel Salam Ouaddou became the first Arab coach to win the South African League title.

He had previously led Congolese club Vita Club to win the cup title in 2024.
