The Egyptian Football Association has announced the return of Orange Club to participate in the Second Division League for the 2026–2027 sports season, on a temporary basis.
This decision by the Egyptian Football Association comes in light of the ruling issued by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding provisional measures concerning Orange Club.
Details of the new decision
In an official statement, the Football Association affirmed its full respect for all levels and means of litigation applicable within the international football system, and its constant commitment to complying with rulings and decisions issued by competent judicial authorities.
It added: "Based on the decision issued regarding provisional measures, the Association will take the necessary executive actions, resulting in Orange Club's temporary return to participate in the Second Division League competition, pending resolution of the dispute and issuance of a final judgment by the Court of Arbitration for Sport."
The Association emphasized that the previous decision to exclude Orange from the competition was not issued unilaterally or arbitrarily, but rather based on a letter from the Ministry of Youth and Sports concerning the club's legal status, which indicated that the club had not obtained the necessary license to engage in sporting activities, in accordance with the provisions of the Sports Law and regulations governing sporting activities.
It continued: "The Association confirms that all procedures taken in this regard were conducted within the framework of compliance with Egyptian law and football regulations, while also preserving the integrity and stability of competitions, without violating any prevailing legal provisions or rules."
The Football Association concluded its statement: "We reaffirm our full respect for and implementation of the Court of Arbitration for Sport's decision, while reserving our right to present our legal arguments and defenses before the court of first instance, awaiting the conclusion of judicial proceedings and the final resolution of the dispute."
Orange Club Statement
Orange Club had previously announced its pride in the issuance of the International Court of Arbitration for Sport's decision, which annulled the previous ruling and obligated the Egyptian Football Association to reinstate the team's participation.
The club affirmed that this decision represents an important milestone in its journey and a victory for the principle of equal opportunity, respect for regulations, and legitimate rights within the sports system, stressing that resorting to specialized sports institutions and authorities was the optimal path to safeguard the club's rights.
Orange welcomed the decision, confirming that its confidence in the justice of sports institutions remains unwavering, and that the club's return to participation signifies a triumph for sports justice after securing its rights through legal channels.
