Chelsea English club announced the appointment of the Spaniard Xabi Alonso as technical manager of the team.
Xabi returns to the technical manager's seat, after leaving the coaching of the Spanish club Real Madrid at the beginning of this year after losing the Spanish Super Cup to Barcelona.

The London club confirmed in an official statement today, Sunday, that Xabi Alonso will begin his duties with the team from July 1 next.
Chelsea indicated that Xabi Alonso signed a contract with the team for the next 4 years until 2030.
Alonso comes to Chelsea after having coaching experience at the highest level in European football with Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen, where he led the German club to its first league title in its history.
Chelsea said: "His appointment reflects the club's belief in his wide range of experiences, the quality of his coaching, his playing model, his leadership qualities, his personality, and his integrity, which were essential in the decision to seek his assistance in leading the next phase of Chelsea's journey".
Chelsea's statement added: "Alonso is not only considered an outstanding football coach, but is also considered a leader and an experienced partner in a number of key areas for the requirements of leading the team".
The London club concluded: "Chelsea Club looks forward with confidence to the next phase in cooperation with Xabi, united in the determination to achieve success at Stamford Bridge, which represents a distinctive feature of the club's history and future".
