Mohamed Abdelmonem has returned to the squad of French club Nice for the first time in 484 days.
Nice is preparing to face Lorient this Saturday evening in the first round of the 2026-27 French league season.
Abdelmonem was absent from the Eagles' squad throughout last season due to a cruciate ligament tear.
Abdelmonem's last appearance for Nice was against Paris Saint-Germain on April 25, 2025, in the French league, a match in which he sustained the injury.
The Egyptian defender did not play a single match for Nice last season and was included in the Egypt national team squad for the 2026 World Cup, where their campaign ended in the Round of 16 at the hands of Argentina.

The 27-year-old has made 18 appearances since joining Nice from Al Ahly in the 2024-25 season.
Abdelmonem did not play in any friendly matches for Nice during the pre-season period, limiting himself to rehabilitation training.
Nice head coach Olivier Pantaloni's team will play the match without fans due to the hooliganism incidents that occurred in last season's match against Metz.
According to the expected lineup based on French reports, Abdelmonem will start the match on the bench.
