A source close to Tharwat Sweilem, former member of the Clubs Association, clarified the reasons for his apology for not being present in the association's board of directors for the new football season, confirming that fan pressures were one of the main reasons behind his decision.
The elections for the board of directors of the First Division Clubs Association were held yesterday, Monday, at the headquarters of the Egyptian Football Association, in the presence of representatives of the participating clubs, and Engineer Hani Abu Rida, President of the Football Association, and Ahmed Diab won its presidency for the sixth consecutive time.
The source said in exclusive statements to "Boutoulat": "Tharwat Sweilem was subjected to psychological harm and unjustified attacks from Zamalek fans, without any convincing reasons, due to accusations of bias towards Al Ahly Club".

He continued: "There is no room for favoritism in the association's system, whether regarding the match schedule or penalties, as all these matters are done through an updated electronic system".
He added: "There is no interference from anyone, yet he is constantly subjected to excesses in criticism and a style that he does not accept from Zamalek fans, especially since he is a police officer, a parliamentarian, and holds a doctorate in law, and therefore he preferred to distance himself from the system, and this is the main reason behind his apology".
The source concluded his statements by saying: "As for the reasons related to the management of the association and the union, Tharwat Sweilem will announce them himself during the coming period".
It is worth noting that the new Clubs Association board of directors includes Ahmed Diab as president of the association and membership of Ibrahim Al-Kafrawy, Khaled Refaat, Khaled Shukri, and Mohamed Shaaban Al-Khouly.
