Mustafa Azzam, Secretary-General of the Egyptian Football Association, revealed a major surprise regarding increasing the number of slots for clubs in African competitions next season.
Hani Abu Rida had previously submitted a request to the Confederation of African Football "CAF" to increase the number of participating clubs in African competitions in the new season.

Azzam said in statements on "CBC" channel: "We received a letter 6 days ago from the CAF Secretary-General regarding the proposal to increase the number of clubs in African competitions in the African Champions League and the Confederation Cup".
He added: "The letter stated that it is not possible to implement the Egyptian proposal this season to increase the number of Egyptian clubs participating in the Champions League and the Confederation Cup, and it will be discussed next season".
Zamalek and Pyramids clubs are scheduled to participate in the next edition of the African Champions League, while Al-Ahly and Zed will play in the Confederation Cup.
