Press reports have revealed radical changes in Saudi Arabia's plans to host the 2034 World Cup, as the country faces serious challenges related to the construction of one of the largest planned stadiums.

Saudi Arabia is seeking to host the 2034 World Cup and has been planning for this, with previous reports stating that a futuristic elevated football stadium would be built at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level.

Saudi Arabia is working on building or renovating 15 stadiums distributed across 5 cities as part of the country's vision for hosting the World Cup.

The British newspaper "Daily Mail" reported that there are intentions to cancel the plans for building the "NEOM" stadium, despite approximately two billion pounds already having been spent on it.

The engineering platform "MEED" has currently classified the project as suspended without a specific completion date, prompting Saudi Arabia to abandon its plan.

The report notes that Saudi Arabia is facing increasing pressure stemming from the repercussions of the war in Iran and the resulting disruptions to infrastructure and energy shipments, which doubles costs and increases challenges less than 8 years before the start of the World Cup.
