A source within the Egyptian national team revealed that a friendly match between Egypt and Eritrea, intended as preparation for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, has failed to materialize.
The Egyptian national team, led by Hossam Hassan, is scheduled to face Angola and South Sudan on September 25 and 29 respectively, in the first and second rounds of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tournament.

Batoutat has learned from its sources that Eritrea requested a friendly match against Egypt prior to their encounter with Kenya; however, Egypt is committed to its matches against Angola and South Sudan.
The source added: "The friendly match between Egypt and Eritrea scheduled for next October failed due to conflicting dates for official matches of both teams."
The source continued: "Eritrea has requested the Egyptian Football Association to explore the possibility of arranging a friendly match between the two teams in November, as Hisham Yakan, the technical director of the Eritrean national team, is keen on facing Egypt in a friendly."
