Manchester City FC officially announced shortly ago in a formal statement the departure of a new player from its squad during the current summer transfer window.
This summer, Manchester City has seen several players leave, notably Rodri, Bernardo Silva, John Stones, Savinho, and Tijjani Reijnders.
In an official statement, Manchester City confirmed the departure of Nico González from the Sky Blues squad and his joining of Newcastle United.
Nico González leaves Manchester City for Newcastle United in a permanent transfer deal, ending the Spanish player's 18-month tenure at the Etihad Stadium.

During this period, 24-year-old Nico González participated in 59 matches for Manchester City across all competitions, scoring four goals.
With City, Nico won the League Cup and FA Cup titles in 2026, scoring the winning goal for his team in last season's FA Cup semifinal match against Southampton.
According to journalist David Ornstein, Nico González's transfer fee to Newcastle amounts to £48 million plus an additional £4 million in add-ons.
Regarding his departure, Nico said: "It has been an honor for me to be part of Manchester City. It is difficult for anyone outside the club to realize how wonderful this club is; the management, players, coaches, staff, and fans make it truly special."
He added: "It has been an honor for me to play for Manchester City. I enjoyed my time here, but I want to play more, and honestly, I leave with nothing but love and gratitude for City."
He emphasized: "I learned a lot during my time here by working alongside the best players and coaches in the world of football."
He concluded: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my teammates, the coaching staff, and the City fans who provided me with support and assistance throughout my time in Manchester. I wish the team every success this season and in the future."
