The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has reduced the penalty imposed on Zamalek Club in the African Super Cup match crisis.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) fined Zamalek Club $200,000 after the players threatened to withdraw from the field following the referee's decision to award a penalty to Al Ahly.
CAS decided to accept Zamalek's appeal against the penalty, reducing it from $200,000 to $50,000.
Zamalek won the African Super Cup title in 2024 against Al Ahly on penalties, succeeding in winning the title for the fifth time in its history.
This is the second decision in favor of Zamalek, after the Sports Court previously decided to reduce the financial penalty imposed on the club regarding the events of the 2024 CAF Confederation Cup final.
CAF had decided to fine Zamalek $200,000 due to poor organization and the events accompanying the team's coronation of the 2024 Confederation Cup.
Before Zamalek's appeal was accepted, CAS decided to reduce the fine to $100,000.
Thus, Zamalek Club is now entitled to receive a total of $250,000, after the Super Cup penalty was reduced by $150,000, and the Confederation Cup penalty was reduced by $100,000.
Zamalek revealed through its media center that the club would contact the African Union in the coming hours to demand the return of the amount due to the club, after the two rulings by the Sports Court.
CAF had deducted these amounts from Zamalek Club's dues with the African Union.
