The British newspaper The Sun revealed that Newcastle United is targeting signing the Egyptian Omar Marmoush, Manchester City's striker, during the current summer transfer window.

The newspaper explained that Newcastle suffered a strong blow this summer after the departure of a number of its most prominent stars, led by Bruno Guimarães to Arsenal, Sandro Tonali to Tottenham, and Anthony Gordon to Barcelona.

It added that Newcastle's management has placed Marmoush at the top of its targets, in light of its desire to strengthen the team's ranks, noting that Manchester City values the Egyptian international player at around 60 million euros, an amount that the English club appears ready to pay.

The Sun confirmed that no official offer has been submitted yet, with interest also from Tottenham and Barcelona in signing Marmoush.

The report believes that Newcastle's success in concluding the Marmoush deal would represent a strong step for the club, after a summer that saw the departure of a number of its most prominent players.
