A source inside the Egyptian Football Association revealed that the Confederation of African Football "CAF" has not definitively and officially decided its position regarding the Football Association's request to increase the number of seats in the African Champions League and Confederation Cup tournaments, starting from next season.
The Egyptian Football Association, headed by Hani Abu Rida, had issued an official statement last Thursday evening regarding increasing the number of Egyptian seats in the African Champions League and Confederation Cup tournaments, so that three clubs from Egypt participate in each tournament.
A source from the Egyptian Football Association said, in statements to "Yalla Koura", that "CAF" has not officially notified the Egyptian Association, whether by approval or rejection, regarding the request to increase the number of seats.
The source added that there is a state of division within the corridors of "CAF" between supporters and opponents of this proposal, explaining that a large number reject this matter.
The source - who preferred not to mention his name - completed that the African Confederation will respond officially in the coming days, in order to notify the clubs that will officially participate in the continental tournaments.
It is scheduled that Zamalek and Pyramids teams will participate in the next edition of the African Champions League competition, as the White team is the champion of the league competition in the past edition, while the "Sky" team came in second place.
In contrast, Al Ahly is scheduled to participate in the Confederation competition, given that it obtained third place, and it is assumed that Zed team will participate in the same competition, after obtaining the runner-up of the Egyptian Cup following its loss in the final match against Pyramids.
