Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of Paris Saint-Germain, spoke about rumors suggesting he might run for the presidency of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) in the coming period, amid the possibility of Gianni Infantino leaving his position.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi's name has been put forward over the past few months to become the new FIFA president, given the significant pressure on Infantino following accusations leveled against him regarding selling football.
There has been a campaign against Infantino recently led by UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin, who does not want the Swiss official to continue in his role, as the FIFA presidential elections approach, scheduled to take place in March next year.

However, Al-Khelaifi announced that he has no intention of running for the FIFA presidency, stating in comments reported by ESPN: "I have no interest in running for the FIFA presidency, and I have no agenda or ambition to hold this position."
He added: "I am not the right person for this job, and I do not want to be part of FIFA. I enjoy what I am currently doing, and I believe FIFA is not my proper place. Thank you."
Al-Khelaifi also praised Čeferin, concluding: "Football needs great leaders like you. I want you to run again for the UEFA presidency next year."
