The Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo praised Hamza Abdel Karim, the striker for FC Barcelona and the Egyptian national team, following his goal against South Sudan in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Hamza Abdel Karim scored Egypt's fifth goal during their 5-0 victory over South Sudan in a match played this evening, as part of the second round of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

Mundo Deportivo stated that Hamza Abdel Karim continues to maintain his humility despite the rapid progression of his international career; he stated after signing a contract extension with FC Barcelona until 2030 that his goal is "to continue working hard to be ready when opportunities arise."

Regarding the possibility of him playing with the reserve team, the young striker said: "I don't know if I will play with the B team or not. I don't think it would be right not to, nor should I feel ashamed if I do. It is very important to get playing time, score goals, train with the first team, and prove my worth on the pitch. Whether it is with the first team, the reserves, or the national team, I work hard every day for that."

Hamza Abdel Karim's goal came at the age of 18 years, 8 months, and 28 days, making him the third youngest player to score in the history of the Egyptian national team.

Hamza Abdel Karim joined FC Barcelona permanently last summer, transferring from Al Ahly SC.

Hamza Abdel Karim has only featured for five minutes with Barcelona in La Liga this season.
