Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), affirmed that the confederation has made great efforts to increase the number of participating teams in the Africa Cup of Nations, stressing the importance of investing in football across the continent.
Motsepe said during the press conference he held today in Johannesburg: "We have made many sacrifices to increase the number of participating teams in the Africa Cup of Nations".
He added: "Football must be supported and invested in in all countries, as it represents the backbone of every country and a fundamental pillar in the development of societies".
The President of "CAF" continued: "I congratulate Gianni Infantino on the latest edition of the World Cup, which I see as the most successful in the history of the tournament, and increasing the number of participating teams is a very important step for the development of football globally".
